History

Menard company was founded more than half a century ago by a French groundwork specialist Louis Menard who was fascinated with structural engineering innovations. Since then, the next generations of talented and resourceful constructors continually developed the brand, technologies, equipment and set new standards. Today we are a global leader specializing in soil enhancement and improvement, both under already existing buildings and those just designed.
Below we present the most important events in the history of Menard company. We specialize in geotechnics and modern soil improvement under buildings using soil replacement or soil mixing methods which both are an effective alternative to traditional piling. The invention of Menard pressuremeter.

Development of dynamic replacement method for cohesive soils.

1969

The first use of dynamic compaction technology in the United States of America.

1980

The first use of Menard Vacuum method in France.

1988

The first use of Concrete Modulus Columns CMC in France.

1994

Forming an independent partnership Menard Polska Sp. z o.o. (Ltd).

2006

Menard becomes a part of Soletanche Freyssinet group, which is a part of Vinci concern.

2010

Establishing branches in Gdańsk and Kraków.

2011

Establishing the Office of the Regional Centre Branch in Poznań.

2014

Expanding the scope of business by reclamation and remediation of polluted water and ground.

2015

Establishing the Office of the Regional Branch in Szczecin and Wrocław.

2016

Airport in Singapore – the first vertical drain to a depth of 40 m.

1977

Airport in Nice (France) – dynamic consolidation – it reaches so far the greatest depth of 27 m.

1978

The European Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana – the experimental loading of dynamic replacement stone columns – 150 t.

1989

Jangyoo sewage treatment plant, South Korea – the largest forced consolidation settlement using Vacuum Consolidation method – 5.5 m.

1998

Airbus factory in Hamburg, Germany – the greatest value contract to improve the soil in the area of 1 700 000 m2

2001-2003

The tallest residential building (13-storeyed) in Europe built on improved ground – Residential Commercial Ensemble, Grójecka Street, Warszawa – Concrete Columns Technology CMC – 64 0000 rm, the improved surface – 16 000 m2.

2007

Construction of the largest area of consolidated soil (one of the largest soil improvement projects in Poland) – South Ring Road of Gdańsk – Vertical Drain Technology VD – improved area – 400 000 m2, Concrete Columns Technology CMC – improved area – 280 000 m2.

2010-2012

The first large improvement project using gravel columns – construction of the ring road of Jarosław – Gravel Columns Technology SC- 100 000 rm, improved surface – 55 000 m2.

2011

The first such comprehensive execution of the foundation works (from earthworks through soil improvement to the floor of the building) – Gallery Warminska Shopping Centre (Galeria Warmińska) in Olsztyn – making reinforced concrete foundation.

2013

The first reclamation project by Menard Polska – securing the western slope of sulphur open pit mine “Piaseczno” – soil compaction using microexplosion technology in the territory of 24 156 m2.

2014

The largest comprehensive execution of geotechnical works in the largest shopping centre in Europe – POSNANIA Shopping Centre in Poznań – ground improvement under the building using CMC displacement piles. In cooperation with Soletanche Polska, there were made 1182 DSM columns of total length of 6 750 rm and 1368 reinforced concrete piles CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) of over 12 km length as a palisade for an underground car park.

2014

Comprehensive execution of earthworks and geotechnical works of Expressway S19 the section Rzeszów – Kielanówka in geotechnical consortium: Menard – Eurovia – Soletanche (the leader: Menard Polska).

2014

The first remediation project, a comprehensive cleaning of polluted ground below the apartment building in Warsaw, Wola district.

2016

Execution of the largest soil improvement project in Poland – improvement of Expressway S-7 the section Gdańsk - Elbląg in consortium with Keller Polska company (50%/50%).
